The amendments to the National Minimum Wage Act has been gazetted on 21 February 2023.

The amendments will be in effect from 1 March 2023.

In summary, the amendments are as follows:

1.         The national minimum wage is R25.42 for each ordinary hour worked.

2.         Farm workers and domestic workers are also entitled to R25.42 per hour.

3.         Workers employed on an expanded public works programme are entitled to a minimum wage of R13.97 per hour.
